In Class 10-6-10

In class today we went over our "Population Studies" blog answers and we went over why our answers on birth rate, death rate, rate of natural increase, total fertility rate, and net migration rate are what they are. We said that African countries have the highest birth rate because they don't have the knowledge about safe sex and birth control.  We compared the life expectancy of Japan and the United States and said Japans life expectancy is higher than the United States because Japan is more healthy than us. Japan doesn't eat as much fast food as us, they walk everywhere unlike us who drive down the street to get McDonald's or something.
A country or region needs a total fertility rate of 2.1 for the population to remain the same, if the total fertility rate is under 2.1, the population will decrease, and if the total fertility rate is over 2.1 then the population will increase. Immigration is when a person comes into a region, emigration is when a person leaves a region. When someone immigrates to somewhere else, they also are emigrating.
